When Mike was 23 he was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and given 2 years to live. However, at this time he was fortunate enough to have Professor Gordon Hamilton-Fairley of Bart’s Hospital as his consultant and underwent what was then pioneering treatment of combined chemotherapy and radiotherapy for a number of years. Despite all the odds he survived. He then continued to attend Bart’s annually as an outpatient right up until covid lockdown. Mike was always of interest to Bart’s as a long term survivor of chemo and radiotherapy and its after effects. In particular they were very interested in the fact that Mike went on to have 2 children naturally many years after having treatment. Mike always had the upmost respect and admiration for Professor Hamilton-Fairley and the Bart’s Hospital team. This is the reason we have set up this tribute in Mike’s memory.
With love always Mike’s family xxxx
